Fourth Annual White Paper Awards
The Annual White Paper Awards, produced by Bitpipe, recognizes the diligence, effort, and creativity of IT companies in producing these documents and the value the IT community places on white papers. Winning papers will receive promotion and recognition in the IT community, including special listings on Bitpipe sponsor websites as well as three-month syndication on the Bitpipe Network.

The Fourth Annual White Paper Awards are now closed. Winners will be announced on May 27, 2004 in a press release and at CeBIT America.

Categories

Awards are presented in four categories:
  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Networking/Telecommunications
  • IT Services

Criteria

Winning papers and runners up are selected based on the following criteria:
  • Editorial Quality - the level and structure of writing, flow of the overall narrative, and use of clear language to explain the topic or product
  • Format/Presentation - the quality of layout of the paper including incorporation of any charts, diagrams, or graphics.
  • End User Utility - the balance between clearly setting out the benefits of your product or explaining the issues, while not deafening the reader with overt marketing and sales speak. IT professionals consistently value papers that clearly explain and state a case in a reasonably balanced way

General Rules and Eligibility

The awards are open to vendor produced papers published under the vendor's name. The paper must be IT related, of current interest to the IT community and be free to access. It can be described as a "White Paper" but can also be called an "Executive Brief," "Technical Paper," "Technical Report," etc.

Examples of documents that aren't eligible are press releases, data sheets, spec sheets, sales brochures, articles, or papers that are purely promotional.

  • Deadline for all entries is March 26, 2004.
  • Winners will be officially announced at CeBIT America and in a press release on May 27, 2004.
  • Entries must carry a publication date of January 2003 to present.
  • Entry is free, and white papers may be submitted to more than one category, but must be re-submitted for each category. (For example, if your paper covers both Hardware and IT Services, you will have to submit the paper twice, once for Hardware and again for IT Services.)
  • White papers must be related to Hardware, Software, Networking Telecommunications, or IT Services, and must be of current interest.
  • Only white papers in PDF, HTML, or Word format will be accepted.
  • Upon submission, if your paper is a winning entry, you grant Bitpipe the right to use including republish your white paper, company name, and logo in promotion of the awards and winning papers.
