DEFINITION: Vendor managed inventory (VMI) arrangement in which either the vendor continuously monitors a customer's inventory or customer supplies current inventory data, so that the vendor can make timely shipments to maintain the customer's inventory at agreed upon levels, often without the need for purchase orders and related paperwork.
