With the explosion of information collected in every facet of our lives, health plans have the opportunity to use data to transform member experience, provider relations and indeed every aspect of their business. Clinical data in particular is a rich resource offering timely details about the health of individuals and populations, including vital signs, test results, diagnoses, immunizations, and more that are not present in other data sources such as claims. And clinical data can be readily sourced from EHRs, health information exchanges (HIEs), data aggregators, and labs. But there are many challenges to realizing the potential of clinical data.
