In order to navigate potentially hazardous environments and facilities with ionizing radiation exposure or contamination, Boston Dynamics created their robot Spot.
However, Boston Dynamics wanted to test Spot’s ability to withstand high rates of gamma radiation, which could help prevent maintenance shutdowns in generating plants and significantly reduce human dose during regular facility operations. That’s when the Los Almos National Laboratory stepped in.
