A mania for adding the suffix 'Ops' to any term in the technology landscape is a trend that's been around for a few years. Sometimes it's helpful; other times not. MLOps is an example where there is some confusion between it and ModelOps, which we attempt to clear up in this report.

Every industry – and the analysts that serve it – produces a large volume of acronyms and jargon. And in the early stages of any major shift in the way things are done, such things proliferate, get adopted or rejected, or in some cases sow confusion. We think AI – machine learning (ML) in particular – is in the throes of one of those stages right now, so rather than add to the confusion, we would like to attempt to bring some clarity to two particular areas: MLOps and ModelOps. While ‘Ops’ is a term most people get because it is short for operations, add ML or Model in front of it, and the meaning immediately becomes obfuscated. Download this research report to learn more.
