Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) is a security testing method in which an application is tested from the outside in order to emulate a hacker.
On the other end of the spectrum is Static Application Security Testing (SAST), where the tester looks at the app from the inside to uncover potential vulnerabilities.
While security pros often have a preference of one over the other, both should be part of every effective security program. Read this article to learn more about the strengths of the DAST method, and how its weaknesses can be addressed.
