CW Benelux - May-July 2019: A new vision for hackers

This quarter’s CW Benelux looks at the adoption of 3D printing in the Netherlands. It seems 3D printing has found its home, at least initial home, in the enterprise sectors such as manufacturing, and early buzz around the consumer sector potential is now a reality in the enterprise sector.

The possibilities have not escaped the Dutch government’s attention, with the ministry of economic affairs having unveiled an action plan for smart industry to boost development and standards for smart industrial applications including 3D printing.

Today the decline of traditional mail means legacy players have to get in on the ecommerce act. Physical delivery of orders is still a vital component of any online transaction and logistics firms must ensure they can be part of it.

Part of PostNL’s modernisation  includes a strategy to be cloud first in terms of  its IT. The company is for example using Salesforce for sales, SAP for logistics and SuccessFactors for human resources. It also uses Microsoft Dynamics and Office 365 and both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure for platform as a service (PaaS).Read more about it here.
