There is a strong correlation between how much consumers trust artificial intelligence and how much they understand it, according to a study Salesforce conducted to measure people’s trust in AI and various products that use AI.

The study found that trust varies across different AI applications. For example, distrust of AI is the most pronounced with chatbots, where 53% of respondents say they would trust a human to help them resolve an issue versus 13% who would trust AI to do so.
