As the financial and economic hub of Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific, Singapore’s vibrant and flourishing economy makes it an attractive target for cyber criminals. In fact, a 2013 study revealed Singaporean netted the highest per capita losses from cybercrime.

With Asean soon to flex its muscle as a powerful economic bloc, Singapore as the leader of the pack is bracing for renewed efforts from cyber criminals hoping to hack into corporate networks of MNCs and other big local companies for gain and profit.

The city state has been fighting back with the creation of the Cyber Security Agency and with local Interpol office beefing up its own operations to better investigate cyber crimes.

Yet, latest figures from the Singapore police in August saw e-commerce and other internet-related crimes continue to spike in the first six months of 2015. In this story, we will talk to industry experts on the issues and challenges that Singapore in combatting security threats in a very fluid digital landscape.
