Information Governance Symposium: Properly Managing Your Records in an eDiscovery World Classroom


Electronic discovery brings with it a necessity to properly manage an organization’s digital records in order to identify, preserve, and provide information as part of the discovery process. In this session, you will learn best practices, practical solutions, and tools to implement an electronic management strategy. Learn how to avoid pitfalls when responding to legal requirements which can quickly become very costly and burdensome.


Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this classroom, participants will be able to:


1. Evaluate their current ECM and RIM strategies and compare it to potential inquiries that may arise out of an e-discovery request

2. Recognize deficiencies in their current records management plan and develop proper strategies and solutions to better administer managed and un-managed electronic records (emails, electronic documents, PST’s, voicemails, images, etc.)

3. (Re)examine how thorough, effective, and efficient their existing electronic records retention and destruction practices are and the benefits/importance of compliance 

4. Avoid pitfalls, including improper training, lack of communication, ineffective audits, and procedural inconsistencies

With more than 20 years of records information management experience, Andrew J. SanAgustin has been responsible for RIM system conversions; retention, policy drafting and implementation; DM/ECM architectural design; and RIM strategic planning. SanAgustin is a board member of ARMA GSC (2008 Chapter Member of the Year) and charis the Seattle Legal Industry Specific Group. He is a member of ARMA International, AIIM, and ALA.
