E-Procurement Usability: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Adoption of ERP-based e-Procurement has plateaued in recent years due to inherent usability deficiencies that have been exacerbated by heightened expectations of casual users fueled by their online consumer buying experiences. Most companies have made significant investments in their e-Procurement platform and will not be willing to trade-off the integration and data management advantages to migrate to a "best-of-breed" platform with a more engaging user interface (UI). However, this paper presents an alternative, cost-effective way for SAP ERP users to leverage their existing infrastructure with a friendlier, consumer-like UI to achieve the full benefits of e-Procurement.
