Cloud services and data could be located anywhere—and that’s a scary proposition for many enterprises, especially after ongoing revelations of global U.S. government spying. For many businesses, the vagueness of cloud computing isn’t working for them, and cloud data sovereignty is becoming a major concern.

The law of the land—whichever land data is in—governs cloud data and services, and changes quickly with cloud computing. Resellers and partners of cloud services providers are now offering local support and language to ease some of those cloud data sovereignty concerns. And there are also cloud providers that can’t, or won’t, offer any guarantees of where data is at any given time.

Also in this June issue of Modern Infrastructure: Data center density keeps increasing, as servers and storage get faster, better and cooler. Networking still lags behind, but it’s enough to keep up, for now.
