Flock is an
open source Web browser with advanced features, based on the
Firefox code and released for preview in October 2005 by a group of developers in Palo Alto, California.
Flock was developed to facilitate the development of Web 2.0, described as the next generation of the Internet, and Web 2.0 phenomena such as blogging, vlogging, social bookmarking, podcasting and RSS.
Bart Decrem, a member of the team of Flock developers, is known for his work with the Mozilla Foundation. He emphasizes that Flock is intended to leverage open source technology and exist in a synergistic relationship with, not apart from or in competition with, its parent browser Firefox.
