Intel Cloud Edition for Lustre Software
Poor I/O performance leads to degraded application performance, even for some of the largest HPC clusters. Massive amounts of data and large individual files combined with limited disk drive hardware capacity cause major congestion. That’s why one corporation has come up with an open source highly scalable, parallel file system that improves the overall scalability and performance of HPC applications deployed onto dynamic ‘cloud’ infrastructure.
The Key: until recently, cloud infrastructure only offered low cost, low performance serial storage as part of their cloud services (for enterprise and HPC use). Lustre, the fastest and most widely used HPC file system is now available for use with Amazon Web Services. Impact? Significantly faster scale-out storage to turbo charge applications running on HPC clouds.
