ABSTRACT:

Along with the proliferation of mobile devices and new applications, cloud computing is changing the nature of enterprise IT. As employees clamor for more supported devices and applications that they can access anytime, anywhere, the pressure on IT to provide flexible, secure technology options is only increasing.
This classroom explores the implications of this convergence of technology trends, some of the benefits for IT and users as well as the challenges. Included is a timeline of developments in the consumerization movement and a discussion of how shadow IT complicates an organization’s efforts to maintain control over devices and data.
