Many experts now say that cloud adoption hardly comes down to an either-or question of public versus private clouds. Rather, for many companies, hybrid clouds may offer the best of both worlds. For those concerned about placing sensitive data and applications in public clouds, the hybrid model allows IT to retain control of data in a private cloud but also exploit the scalability and flexibility of resources in public clouds. The hybrid approach can minimize the drawbacks, while still making use of at least some of the cloud’s benefits. This classroom explores the practical differences between public and private clouds, presents guidance on how to improve interoperability among clouds and offers advice on ways to effectively plan and manage a hybrid cloud deployment.
