Big data is a buzzword that's been around for years, but many organizations don't fully understand the meaning. Fortunately, data scientists are developing a way for the data to work jointly with quantitative analysts. The lack of structure, opportunities presented and low costs of technology make big data appealing for users. 

In order to understand how to get the different clusters to work together, the International Institute for Analytics interviewed 20 large organizations about how big data encompassed overall data and analytics environments. This paper describes the context for how organizations think about big data, the organizational structure and skills required.
