Network Evolution University: Cloud Networking - Designing the Hybrid Cloud

Network Evolution University: Cloud Networking - Designing the Hybrid Cloud

Cover

In this classroom, we will begin by clarifying what it means to build a private cloud. Specifically, we will discuss what it means for the network supporting a cloud environment - the key characteristics of the cloud and of the network that powers it. Then, we get into the details of how techniques old (VLANs) and new (VXLAN, OpenFlow) can be used to create a cloud-ready network in the data center. Finally, as security is an integral concern in a cloud network environment, we discuss in more detail the tools and techniques available to make a cloud environment fulfill the security requirements of your enterprise. Throughout, we touch on the ways private and public clouds can be connected to create a hybrid, supplementing the heightened security of the private environment with the limitless scaling and resiliency of public clouds.
