IT organizations often look to statistical analysis to determine capacity planning, however, more and more IT systems management vendors are introducing the same types of analysis for real time IT problem identification. As unpredictable as problems are, the assumption that there is a “normal” distribution for every metric analyzed is ludicrous. This white paper discusses various types of IT data and are examined for how close (or far) they are from being “normally” distributed.
