Achieving Real Results with CITS Infrastructure Innovation Services for US Air Force
The Air Force has an essential modernization challenge that must be addressed before it can leap ahead - bringing the current sprawling infrastructure under control. The days of vast server-warehouses requiring physical inspections and walkthroughs must come to an end. Beyond the cost issues associated with prodigious data-center power consumption requirements, there is simply not sufficient labor to complete recurring inventory and/or service-identifications in support of the mission.
Aging and nonstrategic technologies are becoming increasingly expensive to support and maintain, do not enjoy new investment from their vendors and inflict their owners with an uncertain technology future.
This paper outlines how the Air Force must leverage Combat Information Transport System investments and initiatives to evolve a large group of networks and services into a centrally managed and responsive enterprise capable of handling the Air Force's mission-critical requirements and tempo.
