ABSTRACT:
The College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University wanted to virtualize student desktops to deliver a cost-effective and secure environment while reducing operating costs.
But their initial attempts at desktop virtualization were unsuccessful because their existing storage systems could not provide the necessary performance. Bottlenecks, management complexity, and expensive software licensing prevented them from achieving the efficient VDI they desired.
This 2-page case study explores how WSU successfully modernized their storage infrastructure and virtualized their desktops, and the benefits they now enjoy, including:
