There are a surprising number of anti-malware test reports available online that provide valuable data not only about malware detection rates and system performance, but also about factors like false positive rates and usability. But product evaluators need to be on their guard against misleading tests. Results can be biased by methodological errors, inadequate malware samples and deliberate vendor spin.
