The Good, the Bad, and the Unknown
sponsored by McAfee, Inc.

It’s a guessing game to know if a new piece of software is good (safe) or bad (malicious or disruptive). If you treat the unknown as good until proven bad, then you take on risk of system downtime or data loss and the costs of patching and service desk calls. If you assume it’s guilty until proven innocent, you may deprive users of useful tools and content.

McAfee Application Control provides a new, timely, practical layer of systems security by blocking unauthorized applications. While it has some of the advantages of whitelisting, it avoids the operational and security limitations that have held back enterprise adoption of whitelisting technology.
