ABSTRACT:
Companies are under pressure to reduce the costs of their IT environments. Costs can be reduced by making better sue of their physical server resources which often involves improving server efficiency. Efficiency can be improved by improving CPU utilizations through performing more work with the same amount of server resources.
To improve CPU utilization, companies typically consolidate multiple applications onto a fewer number of larger servers. Server virtualization technologies, called hypervisors, can be used to accomplish this.
This study compares the performance and efficiency of several system configurations to determine which configuration is best for processing transactions.
