Where does storage fit and what roles do storage technologies play on a smarter planet? This paper describes how pervasive data-generating technologies are now available, that emerging applications are harnessing them, and that there is a desire among business executives across a broad range of industry segments to mine these applications for competitive advantage in some cases, and for the well-being of humanity in others.
