ABSTRACT:

Since April 2009, when the BAO service line was introduced, the IBM team has been talking about how organizations have a new way to compete: Business Analytics and Optimization (BAO). Not surprisingly, most organizations have yet to take analytics the full distance. But in IBM's latest study, we found that top performing organizations are already blazing their path to breakaway -- exploiting analytics to outmaneuver and outdistance their competitors. They are able to do so because they have the right management systems, tools, and culture in place -- creating, in effect, an organization that seeks, evaluates, and is ready to act on new opportunity. At the same time, they are able to drive change in the business, which turns out to be the biggest predictor of success when it comes to introducing and implementing new analytics and optimization projects.
