ABSTRACT:
Manufacturers in a range of industries traditionally implement legacy enterprise software solutions issued by vendors through static versions. Version upgrades are then released over a period of time - often annually.
The manufacturer receives software disks and updated product documentation. Then, the manufacturer analyzes the new version to determine which fundamental processes have changed and how those changes will affect their current procedures. Teams must be formed in order to determine any necessary retraining, forcing the manufacturer into a time-consuming and costly project that becomes inflated beyond original expectation.
This paper explains how with a community-driven development approach, enhancements are driven by a community of users, which means the system constantly improves in the exact way a user requires. Continue reading to learn the power of community-driven product enhancement.
