ABSTRACT:
DNS is a pivotal component of every network. Without it, critical business services such as email and web access cannot function. Given the Internet’s dependence on DNS, it is essential to ensure the security of DNS services. A vulnerable DNS server is often an entry point for attackers that could leave an organization without DNS services. Even worse, a DNS attack could redirect DNS requests to the attacker’s sites, where information could be stolen. With recent DNS exploits, such as the one discovered by Dan Kaminsky, which was covered by almost every major news publication, organizations need to be more concerned with the security of their DNS systems.
