ABSTRACT:
The goal of this white paper is to provide information about consolidating applications onto a single server using Oracle Solaris Containers to isolate applications and efficiently manage system resources between them.
There are two general ways to approach a consolidation project using Oracle Solaris Containers. The first is to start with an existing system that is to house the consolidated applications and architect all of the pieces within the constraints of that system. The second way is to decide which applications should be consolidated onto a single server and build the server to meet the needs of the consolidated applications. This white paper uses the second approach to demonstrate how to consolidate applications using Oracle Solaris Containers.
