Virtual Desktop Deployment Healthcare Case Study: Seton Family of Hospitals
sponsored by Sychron, Inc.

The Seton Family of Hospitals, the largest healthcare provider in Central Texas, approached Sychron about its interest in designing and deploying a highly scalable, server-based, virtual desktop system. Seton needed to meet a broad set of functional requirements to meet the healthcare provider’s business objectives, among the most important of which was scaling to serve its large, heterogeneous, multiple hospitals and related facilities in the central Texas region.

Like most healthcare providers, Seton was experiencing a growing and increasingly mobile clinician workforce needing immediate and secure access to critical applications and patient information. Their key business drivers were "the need to roam desktops," "lower client side support costs," and "increased speed of clinician access to medical record applications." Seton realized that its current architecture, comprised of an array of distributed PCs and laptops accessing a variety of distributed applications, was falling short in addressing the increasingly demanding requirements of its clinical staff.
