"Cloud" is a collective term for a large number of developments and possibilities. It is not an invention, but more of a "practical innovation," combining several earlier inventions into something new and compelling. To understand why there is so much excitement around cloud computing today while the concept is not truly new, it is important to understand that cloud services need very fast and broad networks to work smoothly.
