ABSTRACT:

The side-effect of vendor consolidation is becoming painfully clear to current SAP customers. With SAP’s decision to focus its future product development on the former BusinessObjects (BOBJ) BI product line, and discontinue most SAP query and reporting products, including SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse (SAP BW) front-end tools like (BEx), customers are being asked to re-develop their BI solutions.

This challenge isn’t all together a bad thing. Since there is no automated migration to BOBJ or any other BI tool, it’s the perfect time to re-think your company’s application strategy, and to find the right solution that will better leverage your SAP and non-SAP data sources regardless of product roadmaps.

Read this presentation transcript in which speaker Steffen Vierkorn, Head of Research and Consulting for the Business Application Research Center – BARC GmbH, offers guidance to IT System Architects, outlining the pros and cons of architectural scenarios and how to best plan to transfer to a more open and enhanced BI environment.
