Perkins & Company used terminal servers to give employees remote access to applications and data, but the servers experienced frequent downtime, and inefficient system maintenance devoured IT staff productivity. The firm's server room was too small to accommodate all its physical servers, and some machines had to be housed in the offices of IT staff.
By rolling out Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 with Hyper-V™ and Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager on Dell™ PowerEdge™ servers, the firm consolidated servers and provided employees with virtual desktops. This strategy improved reliability throughout the network, made IT much more manageable and freed up IT staff for more valuable pursuits.
