ABSTRACT:
France has not experienced a data breach incident of significant size, which perhaps is reflected in their historical attitude towards data protection. However, there is a growing recognition that safeguarding customer information is a vital part of a risk management strategy and that identity theft is a global problem.
This 2009 study by the Ponemon Institute is the first to cover the French marketplace. It focuses on identifying trends in encryption use, planning strategies, budgeting, and deployment methodologies in enterprise IT.
With the rising cost of data breaches an accepted business reality and breach notification laws inevitably on the horizon, the need for encryption across the enterprise is more apparent than ever.
Check out this paper for the results of this study, which sought answers to questions such as: Why are enterprises using encryption? What encryption applications are in use? How much are enterprises spending on key management?
