ABSTRACT:
Project management has migrated from construction and manufacturing into almost every other business sector to help control and manage the growth, adoption and development of information technologies (IT) and, in particular, to improve low success rates for IT projects.
Practice standards were developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the British Office of Government Commerce in order to encourage and guide the adoption of PM practices.
This white paper will answer the question of whether or not these standards are necessary in project management by exploring what can happen in the absence of these regulations.
