Increasing Power Efficiencies: Fortune 250 Energy Company Turns to ePlus Technology for Server Consolidation and Virtualization

A Fortune 250 utility company with more than 20,000 megawatts of generation capacity and $10 billion in annual revenues was searching for ways to reduce its IT spend and optimize systems management. At the same time, the energy company wanted to increase power efficiencies and "go green" with its IT initiatives.
The organization had an existing business relationship with ePlus for more than a decade through leasing and IT equipment sourcing. It decided to continue working with ePlus to handle its data center needs. After participating in Blade server and VMware pilots, the company discovered that consolidation and virtualization would achieve its objectives - to virtualize 75% of its Intel environment (about 400 file servers). It selected to run VMware software on HP AMD Blade servers.
