ABSTRACT:
Integration with Microsoft Exchange allows you to back up and recover online Exchange databases in the same centralized environment as your other data protection functions. There is no need to bring down Exchange or leave the Backup Express management console.
By using the Exchange backup API, Backup Express ensures the integrity of the data it receives from Exchange. Backup Express then controls the movement of this data to disk or tape storage devices. Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is used to back up Exchange for Windows 2003 and is supported for most Advanced Server nodes.
Using Backup Express to back up Exchange databases allows you to consolidate all your backups within a single product with a single interface and single catalog. The catalog tracks saved data for simplified management, eliminating the need to define a master server at each Exchange node.
Once the Backup Express agent is installed on an Exchange node the Backup Express management console detects and displays Exchange objects; there is no need to install additional software for Exchange protection and recovery.
