ABSTRACT:
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers must have a Web services or application programming interface (API) strategy to compete in today's dynamic SaaS marketplace. APIs provide key functionality, integration with on-premise applications, and access to mission-critical data for customers. SaaS providers also rely on Web services to create platforms for partnerships and products that deepen customer usage and drive new revenue streams.
Web services, however, present unique complexities and risks. Unlocking customer data through APIs increases the risk of exposing sensitive data and raises compliance issues. Multi-tenant API platforms with thousands of end users can create bottlenecks in adding customers and revenue. And as more customers access SaaS services through APIs as opposed to the browser, unique operations and performance issues must be addressed.
With its innovative ServiceNet network appliance, Sonoa Systems offers a next-generation platform that enables SaaS providers to offer APIs with secure data protection, flexible access control and interoperability, and significantly increased performance. They can therefore confidently open APIs to customers to drive competitive advantage, enter new markets, and create additional revenue opportunities.
