ABSTRACT:
Many organizations run their key business processes over their network. If the network is not available or not performing well, these business processes, and in turn the revenues for the company, are severely impacted. Network downtime results in a significant and immediate revenue loss in today's organizations.
In Forrester's experience, between 50 — 80 percent of today's outages are caused by human error — changes made to the network that are incorrect, mistimed, or lack the appropriate workflow procedures. Downtime also triggers the "wrong" visibility for IT operations.
The usage of IT governance and improved management processes frameworks — in combination with the right management tools — prevents downtimes due to network configuration errors. Forrester recommends implementing automated tools — which we call network change and configuration management (NCCM). The result: help with growing network complexity and scalability issues, as well as reporting and auditing controls for regulations like HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
In this webcast we will discuss:
- The importance of the network
- What is Network Change and Configuration Management (NCCM)?
- Best practices and experiences in NCCM
- Is NCCM right for you?
- What to look for when selecting a NCCM solution
- Conclusions and recommendations
