An easy interface provides employees, partners and customers with the right information at the right time. That is the vision of CIOs today. The reality is that drawing together information in all of its forms and formats from across the enterprise is still a challenge.

In 2007, Accenture undertook a global survey of 162 chief information officers in North America and Europe in a wide range of industries. They asked them a series of questions on information management including the topics of portals and enterprise content management (ECM). And with the help of this survey they learned about the drivers and challenges for adopting these technologies, as well as how CIOs are funding and implementing these capabilities.
