ABSTRACT:
In this document Barb Goldworm will discuss about the various types of storage and some of the terminology that we use in storage and storage networking. There is still some confusion about what a SAN is, what the various types of SAN are, and what a SAN (versus a NAS) is. He will explain these terms and how they relate to one another. Then he will explain about why shared storage makes sense with server virtualization, what some of the advanced capabilities are in terms of management and automation of server virtualization, and why these advanced capabilities rely on shared storage.
