ABSTRACT:
Server and storage virtualization are on a parallel adoption course, with server virtualization moving ahead of the curve compared to storage virtualization since there is a more immediate cost savings associated with the former than the latter. However, it is evident that as customers gain greater experience with server virtualization, their comfort level with storage virtualization will rise. Furthermore, 52% of the overall responds are using virtualization technologies within their production environments -- a clear sign that end-users trust the technologies is mature enough for mission critical systems.
AberdeenGroup recently surveyed 140 end-users to measure the adoption rate for server and storage virtualization technologies, along with the business drivers, challenges and responses to those barriers.
