ABSTRACT:
This document covers the big picture: flowing business processes over service-oriented architecture over underlying virtualized and consolidated information system. It explains how mainframe application modernization fits into that big picture, then provides short background information about some candidates for application modernization. It covers various approaches, from screen scraping to automated analysis and code generation tools, as well as specific types of tools that can be used to modernize mainframe applications. Last, it mentions three vendors, although this space has a great many vendors.
