ABSTRACT:
2007 proved to be a landmark year for the security of customer-specific information in retail. And while the topic of PCI and data protection as never been hotter, most of what has generated interest has been reactive in nature. 2008 must be a year in which retailers take data protection and PCI compliance seriously and demonstrate more proactive behavior.
This 2008 Customer Data Security Benchmark Study is intended to reveal how quickly and how well retailers are responding to the PCI mandate, and beyond that, what measures retailers are taking now to minimize the risks associated with the capture, retention, and use of customer-specific data.
