ABSTRACT:
Over the past few years, companies that handle credit cards have been under increasing pressure to achieve compliance with the PCI DSS. For some, this has galvanized their security projects and helped focus their security spending. But for others, the process has resulted in quick fixes, security products purchased but not properly implemented, and massive amounts of network and system log and control data that are not being reviewed and, therefore, represent a significant legal liability for the companies that have implemented them.
In this webcast, David Taylor, president of the PCI Security Vendor Alliance and founder of the PCI Knowledge Base, presents findings from an exclusive research program developed by the PCI Vendor Security Alliance to highlight the processes essential to achieving PCI compliance.

David Taylor formed the PCI Alliance December 2006 as a vehicle to help map the PCI security standards to the security and privacy market sectors, to improve the clarity and process of selecting PCI compliant solutions. Currently, there are nearly 50 vendor members of the group. In 2007, Taylor created the PCI Alliance's Research Program and launched the PCI Knowledge Base, as a searchable, interactive research community to improve the sharing of information about PCI Compliance among Merchants, PCI Assessors, and software and services Vendors. Prior to launching the PCI Alliance research program and the PCI Knowledge Base, Taylor created and was the VP of Data Security Strategies for software vendor Protegrity. In addition to providing PCI compliance consulting to Level 1 and 2 merchants, he was VP of Corporate Development. Taylor co-authored the book "Doing E-Business", published by John Wiley & Sons in December 2000.
