ABSTRACT:
This paper argues that the i2010 programme needs to go further, and deeper, in its thinking on how to reengineer Europe's government machine for the twenty-first century global economy. In particular, it needs to examine the process challenges posed by the new agenda, such as workflow, document and case management and e-procurement, and to encourage ways of delivering those processes in radical new ways. This will require governments to make use of new technology; but more important it will require governments to think about business process management (BPM) as a strategic initiative.
