The capability maturity model for services (CMMi) provides a guide for selecting processes that best fit an organization's needs, while ITIL uses best practices to create well defined processes for ITSM. This paper discusses the similarities between ITIL and CMMi and how the two are connected by the support service life cycle that was introduced in the new ITIL v3.
