ABSTRACT:
The Itanium® 2-based solutions and the integration of 64-bit extensions into x86-based processors has given organizations a choice of two industry-standard, 64-bit architectures. Both architectures have a vital role to play in today's IT infrastructures. They can be integrated together very easily; are supported by a broad community of hardware and software vendors; and will continue to advance very rapidly in the years to come. By using them in combination, businesses can maximize the value and agility of their computing assets, and take advantage of industry-standard solutions at all levels of their infrastructure.
