ABSTRACT:
LeftHand's SAN/iQ® platform delivers an open iSCSI SAN with features to complement VMware Infrastructure 3. Customers enjoy better ease of use, reduced complexity, and unmatched availability when using the two together, as detailed in this brief:
- SAN/iQ complements the creation of virtual machines by allowing users to clone storage volumes almost instantly and with minimal use of storage.
- VMware VMotion technology migrates running virtual machines from one server to another. SAN/iQ allows storage volumes to be moved from one cluster to another with no downtime and without modifying the VMware environment.
- VMware HA provides business continuity for applications by automatically re-starting virtual machines affected by server failure. SAN/iQ allows storage to be distributed so that access to the virtual machines' storage volumes continues uninterrupted through a data center loss.
