ABSTRACT:
Computer processor vendors continue to bring out higher performing processors. The latest generation from vendors such as Intel and Sun feature two processor cores in a single chip. But when choosing which server to implement with your database applications, which one will provide superior performance?
To examine the enterprise performance of dual-core servers from Dell and Sun, a performance test was conducted. This study compares a 2-node cluster of Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers with the two fastest Xeon 5160 processors against the Sun Fire V490 with four of Sun's fastest UltraSPARC IV+ processors. Download this white paper now to see the results and a detailed analysis of how their performance compares.
